like a very dumbed down version of a steam engine, this little contraption uses real pressurised water (steam.. sorta) to power the piston back and forth.
no scripting, maybe someone could script it so the amount of water created kept up with the amount dumped - it needs at least 4000 water particles to function well, but i would just stick to the limits of your PC's computing power.
i will turn this into a slow, inefficent vehicle once i can try it on my other (much higher spec) PC so i dont get so much lag...
fuel must be liquified inside the marked "boilers"(measured in number of water particles in the sim info window):
0 - 1000 particles, mostly fails to complete a full rotation
2000 - 5000 works, very well and with minimal lag, should reach and angular velocity of around 1 - 2
6000 - 9000 very powerful and fast, has been able to reach an angular velocity of over 2.7*
9000-12000 untested, but assumed to be faster, at least an angular velocity of 3.0*
12000+ 16000 water particles have now been tested, achieved angular velocity of 3.0, so 3.0 rad/s is assumed to be its limit
20000+ over 3.0 rad/s
*this is the maximum recorded or predicted speed that the small centre wheel should reach if the upper end of the particle number category is used. results may vary. an angular velocity of 1.0 rad/s = 9.5rpm or 0.158333333 revolutions per second
P.S. testing and feedback is much appreciated, so please comment!
P.P.S if you just read all of the description, then thankyou, its good to know people do! |
