The Volvo 780 was an exclusive 2-door coupe. It had been conceived by the Italian design company Bertone, also responsible for the production of these exceptional vehicles. The company had extensive experience in this regard with the production of the Volvo 264TE (a limousine version of the 264) and the Volvo 262C, the coupé variant of the Volvo 260.

The Volvo 780 combined elegant and timeless design with the unmistakable Volvo identity. This model also featured a unique design, with an individually molded rear seat for two passengers.

In the technical section, the Volvo 780 was largely based on the 760 model.
