The rims on this car change their shading according to their position. I used a ratrod/ hotrod because of their open wheel wells.

As of now, this only looks real on a flat surface, but if you want to rotate an object to get a 3D effect, look at this scene:

Cool but you pick a hard way to do it =)
Besides - light not correctly calculated from "sun" - It depends on car angle.
Try to use k-probe on wheel - than you can do realistic shading like in my sphinx.
