In order for this device to work, isn't it dependent on the force/displacement curve of each spring? I assume that the curve needs to be linear over the normal operating range of the springs. Am I wrong? :huh:

You are correct on both counts, but since the device only approximates constant tension, some non-linearity may improve or degrade the performance.
