I know it has been several months since my last post here but I got around to updating my Mazda 787B in a few areas (TLDR at bottom):

1. Anyone who drove the first model I posted and hit the brakes at speed would have noticed that the rear wheel did NOT like to be told to stop. I suspect I goofed when I attached the wheel to the suspension "arm" by placing its axle sorta funny-like and not-concentric with where it was supposed to be, or something like that. Anyway I fixed that problem and went to do something else, I forget what, and the wheel did not want to have traction with the ground for some reason afterwards. Long story short there's now another circle covering the area the wheel covers and THAT contacts the ground instead, so we're all good there.

2. It now has a reverse gear so it can travel forwards AND backwards, just like most real cars do (and the Mazda 787B, I think).

3. I think the other scene I posted was at 1200 hertz for whatever reason, and my 4-rotor runs best at around 400, which this scene is set to by default (not too hard to process, not too low a refresh rate for my engine to run).

4. I tuned the brakes a little so they don't lock up at speed and in total, if I remember correctly, the net brake torque is 100 Nm less than it was before. I didn't do enough testing to see how drastically this effects brake distances and all that stuff.

Also note the small cosmetic change with the front wheel for added realism.


Note: The same seemingly unsolvable problem happens with both models, new and old (which maybe some people noticed), which is that after running the scene for several seconds the engine torque decreases, for example if you go from a standstill to top speed and then back to a standstill, then try to go forwards with the engine at full revs, it stalls much more easily the second time than it did right after it started. I do not know why this is, but nothing about the simulation itself nor, seemingly, the laws of physics, is changing, so I'm clueless. TLDR: Old Mazda bad, new Mazda good. Driver now has the luxury of going both forwards AND backwards and being able to stop the car without causing an earthquake. Arrow keys to go and S to start.

i mean it's not a wankel, but at least it does have an engine...

One thing i noticed is that you're using default densities for crucial parts, keep in mind that they'll have awful collisions... try using density 50 or more if you actually plan on making a real-size version
The Linkage I know it isn't a wankel per-se but creating an epitrochoid housing was beyond me. I didn't realize until now that it wasn't to scale (~4.75m) but re-sizing it keeps the materials' properties the same (and at the size it is here it works fine), and I'm not too too concerned with realism here as long as it drives.
