I'm not sure if this is actually how a roller chain gets heat treated at the factory, but it's my best guess. Maybe one day I'll do some research to see how it is actually done!


UPDATE: The sprockets in my original scene didn't look quite right, and so I made much better looking sprockets and roller chain using s_noonan's Sprocket and Chain Generator scene.

UPDATE: The chain was not reaching correct temperature for hardening this type of steel, so I increased the number of gas-fired heaters to three. Now the chain tests to Rockwell C-60.
