Nice work. Looks good. I see you used "real" gears and cut them to make them look sharper. In the old Phun days I think you could reduce the opacity slightly and gears would sharpen right up, but now with Algodoo we have to resort to cutting big gears. Most people will notice the sharp gear tooth profile before they notice a cut. This scene works flawlessly. I didn't realize that a tourbillon is the balanced escapement at the bottom of your watch until I started playing with your other scene.

s_noonan, honestly I thought the sharpening effect on the gears made a difference in the physical interaction between the teeth. I don't understand Algodoo on that deep of a level I guess.

The name I used for the watch is "Ecureuil Mortel"
which is French for "Lethal Squirrel"
If squirl translated to tourbilloner for you I think it's just some kind of crazy coincidence that I didn't realize

Oh I know, it's hilarious! I saw one at Best Buy. Logitech was using it in a demo comparing it to their switches. It's so funny to me considering I got the design wrong, and made it in algodoo without making the fix joints invisible.

But i think i figured out why it has 1 minute delay, its a bit to slow i measured the time the clock needs for 15 seconds, it needed ~19,05.

I was busy revisiting this game and my old account's (this one is a supplement to the previous one after I forgot my password) cringy saves from years ago when I came across this glorious save. A tourbillon, in Algodoo. I reinstalled the game after wanting to simulate a tourbillon idea of mine, albeit using the default gears.

I am quite interested in how you made the involute gears (actual watches and clocks typically use a cycloidal gear form instead). Did you just take a circle, literally make a "gear cutter", index ("divide" or set the angle to position each tooth) the circle and use Algodoo's "subtract" tool to form them?

Also, funny enough, I remember returning to the game shortly and making a lever escapement back in 2015, but I may have unfortunately lost the save for good on my old PC.

I actually used s_noonan's spur gear generator for the gears.
It took a lot of work to get the right ratios and sizes using his tool.

And yes, that scene was actually what inspired me to make this.
I wanted to see if I could make a mechanicall clock that ACTUALLY keeps time
