A venture into realistic scalings, rather than the usual 10m scales.
Looks like spawn engines handle these sizes much better than spring engines do.

Press Q for Ignition.
5 gears in Forward and Reverse, with F and R effectively toggling the clutch, and 1-5 being the gears.

Drop into a chassis, and connect the drivetrain up with the white wheel.

I was going around on your scenes and found something weird that you were talking about (the "resonance"). That is just your axles going above the directSolve limit of sanity and going boom. Use legacyMode 0 on all of them and you'll be able to eliminate that entirely (try that on your "super smooth spring engine").

legacyMode 0 axles are weaker and usually require higher mass to brake decently though. it works on your scene

@Linkage Aye, that was something I'd learnt since.
Surprised I hadn't gone back to the old-old spring engines of mine. Makes one hell of a difference!
