First one is normal, second never stops, third one is self-powered and
will become unstable after a little bit. conclusion= damping is how much
the spring wants to oscillate.

the spring wants to oscillate." Well, that's not true. In fact, it's just the opposite. Dampening reduces the amount of oscillation in a system by dissipating some of the energy and converting that energy into heat. A real world example of a dampener is a shock-absorber on a car.
