I don't understand this. When I press L key, the laser turns on, but that's all it does! How is it supposed to lock onto a target?

I cannot make it work either. If this is supposed to be a missile, why is it stationary? Shouldn't it be moving?

You place the laser so that when you press L, it hits your target. Say you have a plane you want it to follow, you place the plane in the path of the laser, and then press L. Those three blocks will remain close-by to the target, so you can fly about, and press 1 2 or 3 to fire homing missiles.
It's just the style I preferred, because it meant that I could fly my planes and simulate a fighter tailing behind it
