this gravity car is massive. the radius of the wheels are 50 meters. the gear ratios are 8^5:1 or 32,768:1. if the bars were to spin the middle gears only 25 degrees from their starting points, the number of revolutions from the outside wheels would equal 2,275. That is 91.02 revolutions per 1 degree turn from the inside gear. The distance traveled would equal the parameter of the circle(wheels), multiplied by the number of complete rotations. this would equate to 2,275*2*pi*50 meters, which equals 714,712.33 meters traveled per 25 degrees of the inner gears turned. Per 25 degrees of the inner gears, the device would travel 444 miles at varying speeds. meters per mile = 1609. The reason this device is cool to me is because the load does not change the distance traveled, only the speed. It could be used to transport things. The heavier the load, the faster it travels. Most loads would have to be lifted into its carrier, anyways. So the device would use the loads potential energy to transport the load at varying speeds, a distance without using gasoline. Trains must be loaded with it's carriage. This gives the train alot of potential energy that is never used. And it is wasted by using fuel when most of the energy on board is already useable in the form potential energy from the load the train is carrying. |
