Ever want to cut a dowel rod with a sword in algodoo? Well, now you can! And the best part is, the dowel constantly refills itself, so you never run out of dowel to cut! Ain't it nifty? And there's no pointy end for you to hurt yourself on! Wow, what a deal!
But seriously, this was just a simple experiment to try out a scripting technique with velocity. If the sword blade is moving faster than 7.5 m/s, it goes through the "dowel rod" I have floating there. It even cuts a piece off. And by that I mean makes an identical copy with the sword's velocity.
Just try swinging the sword into the, eh hem, "horizontal dowel rod", and see what happens! It's totally not just a circle with a texture, I swear!
Works best at a higher sim frequency, but could probably work with a relatively low sim frequency. Any lower than 120 though and it might not act right. I have it set to 600.
And if the sword randomly disappears, try undoing sim-start and trying again. The way the cutting system is set up causes it to do that from time to time. |
