Thanks for the explanation. Now I can see how much effort went into making the gears. I don't understand how you can subtract the blue gear from the yellow circle without cutting the green bar, unless you pull away the green bar before subtracting. See Internal Circle Gear for a somewhat similar scene.
Yeah, I thought these were very simple at first, but seeing how long it takes just to make one gear, its pretty impressive. Good job!
But the second half of the work is not necessary to do because it is just a cosmetic finishing - Gears don't need to be strutted.

Nice Work @ matto !!!:)
thanks a lot guys

@ Scientific Accuracy, the second half it was not necessary but I will use the silhouette of Algodoo to build the wooden gears.
I'm curious to know if they work really well..
so they are lighter.
@ s_noonan, to subtract the blue gear from yellow circle without cutting the green bar you have to click subtract while only selected the yellow circle.
if some object is selected, the "subtract" command acts only on the selected object
Hooray! I learned something new today. Here's a more detailed explanation for people like me who might not of understood it at first.

To subtract the blue polygon from the yellow circle without subtracting from the green bar, do the following:

1. Select the blue polygon.
2. Right click the blue polygon.
3. Pull the context menu away (undock it) from the parent menu. You will need this menu later.
4. Select the yellow circle.
5. Click the blue polygon's "subtract" menu item each time you wish to subtract the blue polygon only from the yellow circle.
excellent!
thanks a lot;)
yes.
the s noonan explanation is more detailed.
I had some problems after a year to select the circle
and after half an hour i found a way how it works for
me:

1) Rightclick the blue polygon.
2) Move mouse down to CSG. A submenu "Polygon",
i call it for the descrption here "PolyCSC", appears.
3) Leftclick in the letters of "Polygon", keep leftmouse down
and "drag" the submenu PolyCSG to the right, until the main
menu of the polygon vanishes.
4) Rightclick the circle, just below of the "display graph" is
an entry "Selection" (in german: Auswahl), move mouse on it,
there a submenu für the circle appears
i call it for the description here "Circlesub",
in the top line "Circle" (in german: Kreis) is written there
it contains: Select equal, Select invert, unselect,
selected to back, selected to front etc.
5) Leftclick on the Letters "Circle" in the topline of the
submenu "Circlesub", keep mouse down and drag it to the right
until the main circlemenue vanishes.
6) Run the simulation. At my computer, the circle is no more selected
even if you selected it before... ok. But now you can Leftklick
on "Select equal" of the submenu "Circlesub", to select the circle
while simulation is running!
7) Leftklick on "Subtract" (in german: Differenz) of the
Polygon-submenu "PolyCSC", frequently while simulation is running
to shape the circle according to matto's description.

I like your self-made gears so much, that i had to add this super-
detailed description for people like me which are no wizards of
algodoo, you are surely a wizard, thanks 1000 times mille gracie! _o_ _o_
Sorry if I answer so late.
You're very kind!!
Thank you so much !!
You did well to add the description.
I agree and happy !!!
