This is a rebuild and improvement on my earlier scene with the same concept.
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=65662

-This version sorts 32 balls instead of 12
-Seems to be perfectly reliable
-Uses a central cam to toggle actions instead of that weird mishmash of actions before
-Sorts faster than previous version
-Uses fewer geometries & moving parts
-No invisible connections
-Built in stopping mechanism for when it runs out of balls
-Looks prettier c:

No interaction needed, it will just play itself.

Also, wow. I uploaded that other scene over 3 years ago. Jesus Christ.

I liked your older design, but this one is better.
Beautiful work! Did you do it by deliviring a constant force of x newton, and depending on the material it would go far or not far?
It works quite simple: The highter the inertia, the slower the velocity, since their kinetic energy is the same(kinetic energy = velocity^2*mass/2 so velocity = (2*constant value / mass)^0.5). Then you add the formula for velocity in it: Velocity = distance/time. Since time is constant(the sorter triggers after a set time), this means that the distance is equal to the velocity * constant, or in other words:

The highter the mass, the slower the velocity, the shorter the distance -> sorting effect
Basically, except without all the darn maths.
