Introducing the FMJ-139 Heavy Landing Gear!
So yeah. This is my first attempt at serious engineering, and I believe it worked out really well.
This set of gear uses a four bar linkage base, with spring dampened suspension and dampening.
The gear runs on a freeform track, with a locking point at the top. The opening at the locking point is for servicing, as with heavy machinery the bearing can be lifted, and the whole assembly removed.
All parts in the scene have the same density to best simulate the function of the mechanism, but give an inacurate perspective for weight. As I tune and tinker around with the mechanism to include an automatic lifting system and optomize the parts, I will try to find a way to keep the rigidity but reduce mechanism weight.
As I mentioned before, the gear must be lifted manually, as I have yet to implement a power lifting system.
Enjoy, rate, comment, and PLEASE give feedback and requests.
