The engines here are totally functional but produce very little power and lots of gyroforces. Use them at your own risk!
This scene has three toroidal engines that seemed to work in real life. There are more models, but these are awesome

I didn't know about this engine type until Xray said something about them on my yoengine copy from another user (And that one actually appears to work similar to a Tschudi engine)

W to gas and nothing more! Please rate and comment. This isn't too easy to make.

v2: Removed smoke from the second engine and that gave 2x performance

Nice demo, The Linkage!
To be honest, I really like the 2nd one ( the Beck Engine II ) because the mechanics are kind of "understandable" for me:lol:

The third one ( Bradshaw Omega ) is the most interesting among the 2 torodial engines that you made in this scene because the way it move is very different making me fell in love with that engine:lol:

That'd be great if you made a torodial engine tutorial, so you could inspire others to make a torodial engine:tup:
Nice work.
Well this is awesome. Did you get the ideas from here?
Yeah, you gave me the link in the other engine. This was love at first sight! :D
I'm working on the Tschudi engine right now. I can't seem to get the cams to work right. Oh well, neither could the guy who built it in real life (I assume his name was Tschudi....?) That's why it failed
Would be interesting to see some dyno curves on these to compare them:P
pnvv, I also tried... The cam thingy is messed up (If it doesn't work in Algodoo, then there's no freaking way it actually worked irl!)

Christer, would you be so kind?
No, really, you shouldn't compare them side-to-side as they have different operation (the 2nd engine is the best of all, but it should be even better if collisions were more precise in Algodoo)
I actually did a torque test for all three, the Beck I runs the fastest and the Beck II has the most torque, and the Bradshaw is more torquey than the first Beck but runs slower. Oh well, at least the Bradshaw does better here than it did IRL. If you read the article I mentioned it says the Bradshaw exploded into a million pieces when they tried to test it
Yeah, it says the guy made gears with a file or something  But they're making a new concept (rotobloc) with scotch linkages instead of rods to change the pistons' angle, and it looks awesome
Doh, forgot to rate! there yah go!

I might build this equally weird concept sometime in the future. I just need to find a way to get the wobble plate thing to... work in 2d, then maybe?

I found that page like a year ago searching for axial engines. I built one in Golems, but that thing seems to run at 60 Hz :|
